How to Delete or Edit a Message in Ommnio

In Ommnio, you have control over your own messages—including the ability to edit or delete them. As an administrator, you also have control over the content.

What Can You Edit or Delete?

  • Text messages: You can edit or delete them.
  • Files (images, videos, audio, documents): You can only delete them.

When a message is edited or deleted:

  • Edited messages will show a “(edited)” label.
  • Deleted messages will display “message deleted”, so everyone knows the change was intentional.

📲 Note: This feature is available starting from version 2.7.3. Make sure your app is up to date on Android or iPhone.

On Mobile (Android / iOS)

To edit or delete a message:

  1. Tap and hold the message (only your own, unless you're an admin).

  2. A menu will appear with the following options:

  • Reply: Respond directly referencing that message.
  • Copy message: Copy the text to paste elsewhere.
  • Pin message: Pin it to the top of the chat for all users.
  • Edit: Modify the message. Once done, tap Send to update it.
  • Forward: Send the same message to another user or group.
  • Delete: Permanently remove the message.

On Web

  1. Hover over the message you want to edit or delete.

  2. Click the small arrow in the top-right corner of the message bubble.

  3. A dropdown menu will appear (only if you have the right permissions).

You can also click “Info” to see who has read that specific message.

🔴 Important Notification Note

Even if you edit a message, the original version may have already been sent as a mobile notification.
However, when the user opens the chat, they’ll see the latest updated version.
