What Can a Chat Group Administrator Do in Ommnio?

Chat Group Administrator Permissions in Ommnio

There are two levels of permissions associated with Ommnio chat groups:

  1. Writing Permissions

  2. Group Administrator Permissions

Let’s break them down:

Writing Permissions in a Chat Group

Whether you're a member, Team Administrator, or Account Administrator, if you have writing permissions in a group, you can:

  • Write using the group’s avatar, not your personal identity. Messages will show as coming from the group (e.g., Human Resources), not from you.

  • Write in read-only groups, share files, and send mandatory reading or digital signature messages.

  • Edit or delete your own messages — or those written with the group's avatar by other admins. These actions will be marked as “Edited” or “Deleted”.

  • Pin a message at the top of the chat for visibility — and unpin it whenever needed.

Group Administrator Permissions

If you are the Group Administrator, you have all writing permissions listed above — plus additional capabilities:

  • Edit group settings, including image, name, description, group type (open or read-only) and if the group can be silenced by members. You can also delete the group if necessary.

  • View analytics for mandatory reading and digital signature messages, including who has read each one.

  • Add or remove users or teams subscribed to the group, depending on the permissions granted to you as a Team Administrator or Account Administrator.

  • Delete other users’ messages, which will be marked as “Deleted”.
