What Is the Ommnio Whistleblowing Channel?
The Ommnio Whistleblowing Channel is an add-on that lets your organization receive reports about irregularities, misconduct, or regulatory infringements from employees and third parties — through a secure, anonymous, and confidential channel accessible from any device.
Because Ommnio is built for deskless workers, the channel is reachable by everyone in your organization: office staff, field teams, factory floor, retail, hospitality — not just people with a corporate email address.
Why your organization may need a whistleblowing channel
In the European Union, Directive (EU) 2019/1937 (known as the Whistleblowing Directive) requires organizations to provide a secure internal reporting system that protects whistleblowers from retaliation. In Spain, this directive is transposed through Ley 2/2023, de 20 de febrero.
These obligations typically apply to:
- Private companies with 50 or more employees
- All public sector entities
- Municipalities with more than 10,000 inhabitants
- Political parties, trade unions, employer associations, and foundations that receive public funds
- Companies in high-risk sectors (financial services, anti-money-laundering, transport safety, environmental protection), regardless of headcount
If your organization falls into one of these categories and does not have an internal reporting channel, you may be exposed to significant fines.
Ommnio is a software provider, not a legal advisor. Please check with your compliance or legal team to confirm which obligations apply to your organization.
What the Ommnio Whistleblowing Channel offers
Multi-portal and multilingual. Create as many reporting portals as you need — for different business units, countries, brands, or facilities — and have them automatically translated into the languages your workforce speaks.
Confidential or fully anonymous reporting. Whistleblowers choose how to report:
- Confidentially — their identity is known only to the people handling the case.
- Anonymously — an extra-secure process protects their identity at every stage.
Oral reports with voice distortion. If a whistleblower prefers to report by voice, Ommnio distorts the audio so their identity cannot be recognized — while preserving the content of the report.
Two-way communication with the whistleblower. Case handlers can request additional information without ever knowing the whistleblower's identity.
Customizable to your brand. Each portal can use your corporate colors and your own texts, so the channel feels like a natural part of your organization.
Who manages the channel
Inside your organization, the whistleblowing channel is managed by a designated compliance role — typically a Compliance Officer, HR lead, legal counsel, or a member of senior management, as required by Ley 2/2023. This person is responsible for receiving reports, acknowledging them within the legal deadlines, and managing the investigation workflow.
